Tank container parked in front of our facility — Beer poured directly from the tank container!
Staying Green – Keeping Things “Local”!
How is this possible?
Well, the beer is brewed abroad and then filled into the above temperature and pressure controlled tank containers – matured during the journey to the US – finished & kegged in Oxford, CT.
What this means for your draft?
Highest quality beer along with more beer choices from our smaller breweries while staying “GREEN” by reducing our carbon footprint compared to using disposable one-way kegs or sending individual kegs around the world for filling. The high volume to surface area ratio of the tank compartments eliminates the risk of oxidation and acts as the brewery’s maturation tanks.
What are tank containers?
Temperature & pressure controlled tanks. Each tank has 4 separate compartments that allow us to control the pressure of each compartment while holding them at a cool 32 to 33 F. As the tanks are regulated at 32-33 F during the whole trip, the beers arrive in the US tasting as fresh as if you had at it at the brewery! Each compartment holds roughly 115 30L (1/4 barrel) kegs for a total of roughly of 460 kegs per tank container.
What happens when the tank container arrives in US?
Upon arrival at our facility, the beer is pumped into sanitized and clean kegs where it will either be shipped directly into the market. In some cases the beer will go through a secondary fermentation per the direction of the brewmasters at our facility in Oxford, CT.
How many do we have?
