Oh Italiano! I arrived in the morning for our brewery tour at Birrificio Italiano, probably around 10am, with little trouble. I had booked a hotel room in the area as our home away from home, and found it the day before.
This is actually a fairly new location for the brewery. The brewery was opened in 1997 and has been the spark that ignited the craft beer revolution going on in Italy today. (Del Ducato’s Giovanni was actually his apprentice!)
On to the tour!
I was on the tour with two other folks from a beer publication, they had also been touring around Italy visiting a few breweries.
Tons of grain…
They were still working on some of the conference rooms and offices, this is the tap set up in the room where they will bring guests, custom made by a local artisan!
The view from the conference room!
And now for some beer!
While Agostino is giving us this tour, he’s also brewing a beer, a saison if I recall correctly. So he had to get back to it after doing a bit of tasting. Then he put me to work, but not without pay…
I had to take this grain… And put it into this container…
Then flatten it for the farmer to come pick it up for their cows!
As you can see I’m already drinking my payment. Tipopils fresh out of the tank!
On to the brew pub. The pub is in town in a pretty little section of town. There weren’t too many people out. The pub is to the right of the tree towards the middle.
Ah Tipopils. I was glad that I ended my Italian tour with Italiano. I was able to visit the brew pub and hang out and drink session beer aka Tipopils all day!
