The Lager Edition:
Birrificio Del Ducato Viaemilia with Sottocenere
Keller means “cellar” in German and refers to the method of storage of this particular beer. It is also unfiltered and unpasteurized resulting in its cloudy appearance. The Viaemilia is soft but accentuated by a hint of German hops. We are keeping this pairing with Italian origins with the savory Sottocenere, a semi-soft creamy cheese aged in nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon, licorice, cloves, and fennel. Enjoy this delicious combination which is reminiscent of the Tuscan sun.
Hofstetten Saphir Bock with Mahon
Bocks are maltier lagers and are usually a bit sweeter. This is a hellerbock, helles meaning “bright” in German. This particular bock is dry hopped with Saphir hops giving it a subtle citrus flavor. The mahon is slightly tangy which immensely enhances the soft but zesty qualities of the beer.
Einbecker Schwarzbier with Rogue Smokey Blue
Martin Luther once said, “The best drink known to man is called Einbeck beer.” Shwarzbier is a black lager, although this beer isn’t quite black it is certainly dark. It has a bit of sweetness and is reminiscent of molasses and dates. The Rogue Smokey Blue portrays an exquisite breakfast spread of pancakes and bacon.
Aecht Schlenkerla Urbock with Dante
This rauchbier happens to be on the stronger end of the smokey scale. It definitely conjures images of campfires, bacon and all things warming and delightful in a savory way. The Dante has a sharpness to it that emerges through the pairing. The two together paint a picture of a bowl of chili on a cold day topped with sour cream and decadent shredded cheese on top!
