Originally created for the 150th anniversary of Uerige (1862-2012), this decadent elixir features Uerige Doppelsticke. Doppelsticke is brewed with pilsner, roasted and caramalts. It is hopped exclusively with full flower hops of the Hallertau Perle, Hallertauer Spalter and Spalt Spalter varietals. Cooled in open coolship, dry-hopped and lagered for three months with over 100 IBUs, this beer is then aged in a sherry barrel that was previously used to age UERIGE BAAS single-malt whiskey for over 60 months.
Full of whiskey and sherry aromas in the nose its flavors range from raisins to dark berries, from dark chocolate to caramalized & roasted notes. The finish is long and intense, complex and quite dry.
On December 12th, 2015 we will serve this amazing liquid from its 750ml corked and caged bottles at FESTIVUS 2, @ OEC Brewing, now the “Home of UERIGE USA” as well!
Uerige also produces a few other beautiful spirits, Uerige Stickum Plus, which is Uerige Doppelsticke distilled & aged in a German Pinot Noir wine barrel for 5 years. Every once in a while, another part of Uerige Doppelsticke makes it into a very special distillation apparatus know as a “coffey-still” to end up at around 90 proof and then aged in a German Pinot Noir barrel for another five years…
Uerige is doing nothing but acquiring more complex flavors and aromas… like everything we do around here!
